DIANA MARIE IORIO

Artistic Director

 

Ms. Iorio earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University, studying with Pierre Menard of the Vermeer Quartet, followed by post-graduate studies in Köln, Germany.

She is the Artistic Director of the Luci Toscane Music and Cultural Arts Festival based in Siena, Italy, the heart of Italy's Tuscan region. Along with her role as festival director, Ms. Iorio is an active music educator and clinician as well as chamber musician. She established the "Music in the Wood String Clinics" in 2003 and continues to serve as its artistic director. She manages the L'archet String Studio, the Solaia chamber music ensemble, and serves as the music director and conductor of the LYP Sinfonia, an all-city youth orchestra under the auspices of the Lakeshore Youth Philharmonic since its inception in 2003. In 2008, she was appointed to the string faculty at the Zion Conservatory of Music.

Faculty posts have included Carthage College, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and the Siena Arts and Music Program in collaboration with the Universita` degli Studi in Siena, Italy. She is an active member of the American String Teachers Association, the National String Orchestra Association, Wisconsin String Teachers Association, the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Wisconsin School Music Association, and is a member of the National Music Honor Society - Pi Kappa Lambda.

Ms. Iorio has served as concertmaster and soloist of Musicisti Americani in Rome, Italy, Concertmaster of the Kenosha Symphony, and Assistant Concertmaster of the Arizona Opera Company. She has been a member of the Elgin Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Illinois Chamber Symphony, Phoenix Chamber Orchestra and the Phoenix Bach and Madrigal Society. Performing as concertmaster, soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Ms. Iorio was invited by Senese music colleagues in 2006 to create a music and cultural arts program, which subsequently lead to her role as Artistic Director and program coordinator of the Luci Toscane Music & Cultural Arts Festival.

While Luci Toscane Music & Cultural Arts Festival is at home in Siena, Italy during the annual summer festival season, programming also includes special concert performances and culture presentations in the U.S., Italy and abroad throughout the year.
